My work in Childbirth Education

This is my antenatal classes page, telling you about me and my teaching. I have been teaching for the National Childbirth Trust since 1992 and been a breastfeeding counsellor for them two years longer than that. I teach mainly couples classes in my own home, and the feedback is always that my teaching room is comfortable and hospitable. I have air conditioning for the hot summer months and plenty of windows to open for mid season warmth. Sometimes when it is very hot outside I can't get my class members to leave at the end of the evening; they enjoy the aircon so much! I have in the past said "last one to leave, just switch off the aircon and the lights!" and gone up to bed because it was a full hour after the class ending time!!

Even though my postcode (NW11) isn't as desirable as some others in North West London, I am actually very central, only a minute's walk from Brent Cross tube station, and a minute's walk in the other direction from Golders Green Road with all its buses shops and restaurants. I do live in a CPZ (Controlled Parking Zone) but it's nothing that should worry you; the restrictions are only from 11 a.m until 12 noon, to stop commuters leaving their cars in my street for Brent Cross station. (That shows you how close I am to it!) I have had eight children, even though sadly my son Uri died in a car crash in 1996. My seven surviving children are all married and I have quite a few grandchildren! I have attended the births of three of them as a labour supporter and this has added hugely to my understanding of modern hospital practice. I like to think I am fun and relaxed in my teaching approach, and if you ask anyone who has been to my classes I think they will agree they really enjoyed them. Booking classes is now done online through the NCT so go to www.nct.org.uk and you will find antenatal classes linked.
